If you love sweets try the Roses Cake ( Bolo das Rosas ), pine nut candies or even Alcomonias ( influenced by the Arab presence in the past). Mostly, they are based on pine nut and honey. Wine lover? You will find several wine makers, from family heritage to more commercial options, however always excellent whites, reds or roses. MONSARAZ

SINES
Sines has an intense story. Occupied by Visigoths, Romans and sacked by Moors, the area now days main economic growth is based on energy, port activity, fishing, tourism and trade. Tourism is based on the famous Castle and Church, since Vasco Gama was christened in parish church of Sines. His father was the alcaide-mor of the castle. Near this city, you will find also famous beaches such as Porto Covo, Ilha do Pessegueiro and São Torpes. For the fans of water sports, they will find options of surf and kitsurf.
